ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Rosso Levanto marble is a bold red marble with a deep burgundy-red ground and expressive white veining. It brings warmth, drama, and a classic old-world feel to floors and walls — on its own as a statement field tile, or paired with lighter stones in a striking checkerboard.
Rosso Levanto Tile & Checkerboards
- Rosso Levanto 12×12 Tile — Polished: a polished square field tile for floors, walls, backsplashes, shower walls, and fireplace surrounds.
- Rosso Levanto & Bianco Dolomite Checkerboard — 12×12 and 4×4: wine red with crisp white for the most graphic contrast.
- Rosso Levanto & White Pearl Checkerboard — 4×4 & 12×12: a softer, warmer pairing with a creamy light marble.
- Rosso Levanto & Vein-Cut Ivory Travertine Checkerboard — 4×4 & 12×12, Honed: an earthy, natural pairing with a matte honed finish.
Checkerboard tiles are sold as loose individual squares in both stones. Order equal quantities of each color and lay them in an alternating straight or diagonal pattern.
Where to Use Rosso Levanto Marble
- Floors: Entryways, kitchens, powder rooms, hallways, galleries, boutique retail, and hospitality interiors.
- Walls: Backsplashes, bathroom and shower walls, fireplace surrounds, and feature walls.
- Details: Borders, thresholds, rug-effect insets, and decorative panels.
Choosing a Checkerboard Size and Layout
- 12×12: A bold, classic scale for foyers, kitchens, and larger floors.
- 4×4: A finer pattern for backsplashes, bathroom walls, powder rooms, and small floors.
- Straight or diagonal: A straight grid feels modern and calm; a diagonal layout feels traditional and makes rooms look wider, but needs more cuts and extra material.

Polished or Honed?
Polished Rosso Levanto shows the deepest red and the most contrast in the veining, ideal for walls and formal spaces. Honed finishes, where offered, are softer and give better traction on floors. Compare them in Understanding Marble Finishes.
Natural Variation & Care
Color, veining, and tone vary naturally from piece to piece. Open and blend tiles from several cartons and dry-lay both colors of a checkerboard before installation. Seal the marble at installation, clean with pH-neutral stone cleaners, and wipe up acidic spills promptly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What color is Rosso Levanto marble?
Rosso Levanto has a deep burgundy-red background with white veining. Every piece is unique, so shade and veining vary across an installation.
Can Rosso Levanto be used on floors?
Yes, in interior floors such as entryways, kitchens, and powder rooms. For floors, consider a honed finish where available and confirm slip resistance for your space.
How are the checkerboard tiles sold?
As loose individual squares, not pre-mounted sheets. Order matching quantities of both stones and install them in an alternating pattern.
Does Rosso Levanto marble need sealing?
Yes. Like other marbles, it should be sealed at installation and resealed periodically based on use.
